Diet in recurrent cold and cough :

  • Drink plenty of fluids especially warm liquids such as water, herbal teas, and clear broths. This helps keep you hydrated and can soothe sore throat.

  •  Fruits and Vegetables: Deficiencies of zinc, selenium, iron, copper, folic acid, and vitamins A, B6, C, and E can have a negative impact on your immune system so adding a variety of fruits and vegetables provides these essential vitamins and minerals that support your immune system.

  •  Mixing honey with warm water or tea can help in soothing sore throat.

  •  Avoid foods and beverages that may irritate your throat, such as spicy or acidic foods.

  • Garlic and Ginger have potential immune boasting properties so adding them into meals or consuming them as teas may be helpful.

  • Add protein rich food in your diet   like lean meats, eggs, and legume that can help your body recover.

  • Some spices, like turmeric and black pepper, have anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties. They can be added to soups, stews, and teas.

  • In some individuals, dairy products can increase mucus production and worsen cough and congestion. If you suspect this, you might consider reducing dairy consumption during periods of cold and cough.

  • Give proper rest to your body to recover. A well-rested body is better equipped to fight off infections. Getting good night sleep is important for maintaining immune system strong. During sleep, immune system releases proteins that help fight infection and inflammation. Sleep deprivation may decrease production of these and also infection-fighting antibodies are reduced during periods when you don't get enough sleep.

Remember, these are general suggestions and may not be suitable for everyone. If you have specific dietary restrictions or medical conditions, it's important to consult with your doctor.
